Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the fell 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the were Advantest Corp. (TYO:), which rose 5.74% or 1,180.00 points to trade at 21,720.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:) added 3.88% or 148.00 points to end at 3,960.00 and Toho Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 3.19% or 177.00 points to 5,730.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 5.14% or 317.00 points to trade at 5,850.00 at the close. Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TYO:) declined 3.51% or 18.00 points to end at 495.00 and Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was down 2.75% or 159.00 points to 5,632.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2227 to 1359 and 249 ended unchanged.
Shares in Advantest Corp. (TYO:) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.74% or 1,180.00 to 21,720.00. Shares in Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 3.88% or 148.00 to 3,960.00.

Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.16% or 0.12 to $76.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.22% or 0.18 to hit $81.18 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.21% or 4.15 to trade at $1,959.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.25% to 138.37, while EUR/JPY rose 0.05% to 155.07.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 99.61.
