WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Friday said it was approving California’s plans to require a rising number of zero-emission heavy duty trucks as the state works to cut pollution.
The California Air Resource Board had sought waivers from the Clean Air Act to set heavy-duty vehicle and engine emission standards.
The EPA is approving the Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) Regulation, which requires that manufacturers produce and sell increasing quantities of medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles.
