The Climate Reality Project, a nonprofit founded by former US Vice President Al Gore, is launching the Reality Tour to build the political and public momentum, in the run-up to UNFCCC’s COP 30 in Brazil.
India is part of this that includes in-person trainings in nine Climate Reality branch offices including New Delhi, Canada, Philippines, and South Africa, besides major events in Paris, Nairobi, Rio de Janeiro, and Ulaanbaatar, a note on the tour said.
“In a first for The Climate Reality Project, Al Gore will give his signature presentation on the climate crisis in 12 languages, using state-of-the-art AI provided by technology from Metaphysic, enabling people from around the world to tune in live to learn the latest about climate impacts and solutions,” the note said.
With emissions, temperatures, and anti-climate action rhetoric rising across the world, global leaders are in danger of missing critical 2030 emissions reduction targets, it said. This tour will rally people worldwide to make their voices heard and encourage public and private sector decision-makers to take ambitious and necessary action to avert climate catastrophe – at COP 30 and beyond, it added.
The tour features three components beginning with global in-person advocacy trainings on March 28-30th in Paris, France – the city that is home to the historic Paris Agreement that galvanized climate action globally 10 years ago, it said. Through 2025, the tour will also hold multi-day in-person trainings for advocates in Nairobi, Kenya; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Then there would be branch-led advocacy trainings in Climate Reality branches worldwide, it said, where they would host one-day trainings for advocates in their cities, growing the base of support and demand for action beyond the global training. On March 29th, branch-led trainings will take place in Brazil, Canada, the Philippines and South Africa, and on April 5th, in India, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, and Mexico. The trainings will offer participants the opportunity to experience Vice President Gore’s presentation on the climate crisis and other recorded highlights from the Paris trainings, along with content focused on local challenges and opportunities.
Additionally, through the online global experience, Climate Reality is establishing a dedicated digital platform with content from the global training in Paris. Those who sign up will be able to watch former Vice President Al Gore’s climate presentation in Hindi, Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia, Bengali, English, French, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog, and Urdu, the note said. This would be available for audiences worldwide through COP 30 in November.
