French hospitality group Accor, which operates 65 hotels in India, sees strong potential in Tier-3 cities for future expansion. The group, which is currently executing 30 new hospitality projects across the country, has launched Hotel Pullman Chennai, Anna Salai, formerly Raintree Anna Salai. This launch also marks Pullman’s debut in South India

Spread across 5,000 sq. m, the hotel features 232 modern rooms and 1,700 sq. m of event space for corporate and social gatherings. Its dining offerings include Mercato, inspired by Mediterranean and Asian markets; Mercato Bar, known for curated wines and cocktails; and Up North, a rooftop restaurant serving north Indian cuisine with city view. Property owner Ceebros has invested about ₹100 crore towards refurbishment and upgrades in the hotel.

Garth Simmons, COO of Accor Asia’s Premium, Midscale & Economy Division, discussed the group’s growth opportunities in India, particularly in Tier-3 cities, where rising economic activity is fueling demand for quality hospitality. He also noted that Accor’s partnership with IndiGo helps identify emerging travel trends and potential locations.

In India, the group operates eight brands at present. The Pullman brand has a strong presence across Asia, with over 450 hotels in the region and a global portfolio of over 5,000 properties. Last year, it opened 44 hotels in Asia.

C Velan, Chief Executive Officer of Ceebros highlighted the hotel’s sustainability initiatives, stating that Pullman Chennai runs entirely on renewable energy from Ceebros’ wind farm and rooftop solar panels, improving energy efficiency by 20 per cent. It also conserves 55 per cent of water through advanced systems and retains nearly 100 per cent of its original structure, earning LEED certification.

Ceebros is actively exploring opportunities to develop more hotels and resorts in Chennai and its outskirts. It aims to bring in more international hospitality brands like Pullman.
