The Chief Minister of Telangana, Revanth Reddy, who is known for his persuasive skills, yet again reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi bringing to his attention issues related to the State. He is said to have also briefed the PM on the ongoing rescue operation in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in the Nagarkurnool district.
Reddy, met the PM on Wednesday in New Delhi, and appealed to him to give permission for Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II. According to an official release, Reddy explained to the PM that 76.4 km long five corridors have been proposed under Phase-II in Hyderabad city at an estimated cost of ₹24,269 crore. He requested that permission be given to this project immediately.
According to the statement, Reddy has requested the PM to immediately sanction the southern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) as 90 per cent land acquisition has already been completed in the northern part of the RRR. He said that if the southern part is completed along with the northern part, RRR can be fully utilised. Reddy informed the PM that the Telangana government is ready to bear 50 per cent of the cost of land acquisition in the southern part.
He explained to the PM that there is a proposal for regional ring rail project parallel to RRR. If this regional ring train is completed, connectivity with the railway lines of Telangana and other States will become easier, the CM informed the PM seeking permission from the Centre for the regional ring train.
“There is a need for a dry port near the regional ring road to facilitate the export and import of goods in landlocked Telangana,” he said. Reddy asked the PM to grant the greenfield road along with a road and train route to connect the dry port to sea ports in Andhra Pradesh.
On the Moosi River project, Reddy appealed to the PM for cooperation in the revival of Moosi. Development of Bapu Ghat at the confluence of Isa and Musa rivers he sought financial assistance of ₹20,000 crore for total project. Reddy appealed to the PM to facilitate transfer of 222.7 acre of protected land for the Gandhi Sarovar project.
He requested PM to approve the setting up of the India Semiconductor Mission project in Telangana as there are suitable conditions for setting up a semiconductor industry in the State.
