At this point in one of the most chaotic Oscars races in years, it’s anyone’s guess who might take home a golden statuette on March 2. Last year, Barbie and Oppenheimer slugged it out for the top prizes. This time round, on top of a crowded field led by Anora, The Brutalist, Conclave and Emilia Pérez, controversies over racist tweets, blackface, intimacy coordinators and the use of artificial intelligence have split voters even further.
Nor have the bellwether events that serve as predictors for the main event — such as the Baftas, Screen Actors Guild Awards and Golden Globes — proved conclusive. (Although with a string of wins, Emilia Pérez’s Zoe Saldaña and A Real Pain’s Kieran Culkin feel like good bets for Best Supporting Actress and Actor.)
So who do you think should take the top prizes? Which of this year’s entries have grabbed your attention? Do you care about the swirl of scandal that’s enveloped so many of them? Vote below, and add your thoughts in the comments.
