Stating that Ola Krutrim wants to take a full-stack approach to AI in India, Navendu Agarwal, Group CIO at Ola, said the company’s AI services arm, Ola Krutrim, is working to create a homegrown cloud system for India.

“India does not have its own hyper scale. Everything is [from] western [countries]. We don’t have our own sovereign cloud. That is what Ola is working on. This will be our vehicle of bringing the AI to India,” said Agarwal during the Lenovo Tech World 2025 event.

In conversation with Matthew Zielinski, President of International Markets, Lenovo, Agarwal said that only 1 per cent of India’s GDP goes into the software industry while the US spends 1 per cent of its GDP on the same. Agarwal said the company plans to build the largest AI infrastructure in India by taking a full-stack approach. This means the company wants to build its own supercomputer and AI chips for India, all supported by the homegrown cloud.

“The first user will be Ola Krutrim. We will use this cloud to build applications like agent platforms, contact center AI, manufacturing AI. We are also building agent platform to be used by the startups and the ecosystem. So, they can build applications for the country at a high cost point and cloud will be with that vehicle,” said Agarwal.
