While the removal of the letter “E” had good results for the websites Flickr, Grindr and Tumblr, it clearly did not work for Abrdn, the UK fund manager, as your editorial points out (“The welcome return of the vowel”, FT View, FT Weekend, March 8). If it ever becomes material for a business school case study it will no doubt be called, “The irritable vowel syndrome.”
