Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has on Thursday approved the proposal for a captive port at DL Puram, Anakapalli District with a waterfront of 2.9 km to be set up by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Ltd (AM/NSL).
This would be facilitated by a due amendment of a relevant clause of KGPL Port Concession Agreement (Restriction on commissioning of the Competing Port).
The cabinet chaired by Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu also cleared a proposed demerging of Andhra Pradesh Drones Corporation (APDC) from Andhra Pradesh State FiberNet Ltd (APSFL) to function as an independent company and to make APDC as the nodal agency for all drone related matters in the State.
In the energy sector, the issue of the Government Guarantee for ₹710 crore in favour of HUDCO and implementation of Arbitration Award dated last year between NECL and APGENCO arising out of the disputes on the Polavaram Hydro Electric Project contract were approved.
An additional financial clearance for construction of a retaining wall in Vempadu Major of Nagarjuna Sagar Left Branch Canal under the Chinthalapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme, formation of a special purpose vehicle as a 100 per cent State-owned company under Water Resources Department under the Companies Act, 2013 in the name of Jala Harathi Corporation for execution and completion of the works of Polavaram Banakacherla Link Project were also approved.
To foster a more conducive environment for the hospitality sector’s growth in the State, a proposal to reduce the bar license fee to ₹25 lakh in respect of 3 star and above hotels was also cleared by the Cabinet.
