Brahma acquires Metaphysic in $1.43 billion AI content technology deal

Brahma, an AI and content technology company within the DNEG Group, today announced it has acquired Metaphysic, a developer of generative AI technologies for photorealistic content creation. The merger values Brahma at $1.43 billion post-transaction.

The shares of Prime Focus Limited were trading at ₹105.69 up by ₹1.20 or 1.15 per cent on the NSE today at 10.15 am.

United Al Saqer Group (UASG) and DNEG Group will invest an additional $25 million in Brahma, following UASG’s $200 million investment in DNEG Group last year. Metaphysic’s existing investors, including Liberty Global and Rakuten Capital, will become Brahma shareholders.

The combined entity will develop AI-native products for video, image, and audio content creation, bringing together more than 800 engineers and creative technologists. Brahma will integrate DNEG’s visual effects technology with Metaphysic’s AI capabilities and CLEAR’s content management platform.

Thomas Graham, currently CEO of Metaphysic, will serve as Brahma’s President before transitioning to CEO. Prabhu Narasimhan will act as Executive Chairman, while DNEG Group founder Namit Malhotra continues as interim CEO of Brahma.

The acquisition follows recent industry recognition, with Brahma’s Ziva technology receiving a 2025 SciTech Award from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, and Metaphysic’s AI neural performance toolset winning the Emerging Technology Award at the Visual Effects Society Awards.
