It’s touted as the happiest day of your life, and for many people it is just that. But getting married is also the most expensive day of most people’s lives — and prices are only going up. For many, the cost of the various parts of a wedding — the food, marquee, photography, dresses, hair and make-up — runs into the tens of thousands.

Vendors argue that providing services for weddings is more expensive than other kinds of celebrations due to the high standard expected. But others say some parts of the industry are taking advantage of the social pressure felt by brides, grooms and parents who feel like the day must live up to an unachievable standard.

We are looking to speak to brides, grooms, parents and friends about the cost of weddings in the UK — have you been shocked by the prices you were recently quoted? We’d also like to hear from the other side, the vendors, about the extra demands weddings can place on their service.

We want to hear from you. Please get in touch by emailing money@ft.com.
