Reading your leader “America has turned on its friends” (FT View, February 22) I did wonder could it be true that Donald Trump is a student of Noam Chomsky?
Back in 1992, Chomsky wrote a book titled What Uncle Sam Really Wants in which he lays out the three main strategies the US uses to shape the world to its own agenda: economic and political control over other nations; intervention and military influence; and suppression of alternative political and economic systems.
These three strategies seem to describe current US foreign policy and we should not be so surprised as they have always been the strategies but just implemented in different ways.
