EU rules for tech firms are like a suffocating pastry

Regarding Marietje Schaake’s opinion piece “Europe’s dependence on US tech is a critical weakness” (Opinion, February 20), I agree with the author’s underlying message. One place for the EU to start — and this barrier would not be trivial to lower — is perhaps by addressing the suffocating “feuilletage” of bureaucratic rules faced by young companies.
