India’s domestic air passenger traffic grew by 11.04 per cent in February 2025 on a year-on-year basis, official data showed on Thursday.
As per the data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India’s scheduled domestic flight operators ferried around 1.40 crore passengers last month.
In February 2024, the traffic number stood at 1.26 crore.
On a sequential basis, 1.46 crore passengers were ferried by domestic airlines in January 2025.
“Passengers carried by domestic airlines during February 2025 were 1.40 crore as against 1.26 crore during the corresponding period of the previous year thereby registering an annual growth of 11.16 per cent and monthly growth of 11.04 per cent,” the DGCA monthly passenger traffic report said.
According to the data, IndiGo achieved the highest market share among all the domestic airlines during the month under review. The airline ferried 89.40 lakh passengers in February 2025 to attain a market share of 63.7 per cent.
IndiGo was followed by Air India Group (including Air India Express), which carried 38.30 lakh passengers to attain a market share of 27.3 per cent.
The data showed that budget carrier SpiceJet flew 4.54 lakh to reach a market share of 3.2 per cent, and Akasa Air carried 6.59 lakh to attain a share of 4.7 per cent.
Besides, Alliance Air’s market carried 0.86 lakh passengers to get a share of 0.6 per cent, followed by Star Air, which carried 0.60 lakh to get a share of 0.4 per cent.
