Beyond urban centers, flexible workspace providers are expanding into airport locations, addressing the growing demand for productivity on the move—especially among business travelers and remote workers. Mumbai-based IWG, which operates brands like Regus, Spaces, and HQ in India, along with iSprout, are among the early movers tapping into this trend.
Highlighting this trend, Harsh Lambah, Country Manager India, IWG plc, says thatairport-based workspaces are becoming essential hubs for productivity, offering convenience and efficiency to business travelers, remote teams, and entrepreneurs.
Regular clients of these spaces include startup founders, investors, and companies across sectors such as IT, finance, healthcare, consulting, and technology. “Additionally, corporates are setting up airport-based satellite offices to support employees who travel frequently, ensuring accessibility and efficiency,” says Lambah.
Airport workspaces gain traction
Lambah attributes this trend to the rise in business travel, noting that airport-based workspaces are mirroring global trends. “With the airport located nearly an hour from the city center, business travelers can now fly in, hold meetings, and depart the same day, maximising efficiency,” he adds. Internationally, IWG operates the ‘Spaces Lounge’ at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, while in India, it runs a workspace at GMR Aerocity, part of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).

IWG states that its airport-adjacent workspaces offer premium facilities similar to its other locations. “There is demand for both short-term agreements, by the hour or the day, as well as long-term contracts, such as year-long leases, at all our locations, including transport hubs,” the company noted.
At iSprout’s flex space inside RGIA, short-term usage and pay-as-you-go options are available, in contrast to its traditional managed office spaces that require long-term leases.
“While our regular locations offer full-fledged office arrangements with monthly rentals, Flyers Club has variable pricing depending on usage duration. Due to its airport location and additional amenities, the rates are slightly higher than typical coworking prices but remain competitive for frequent travelers, making it a convenient option for business professionals in transit,” says Sreenivas Tirdhala, Co-Founder & CSO, iSprout.
Following the launch of its flex space at Hyderabad Airport, iSprout is now in discussions with other airport operators across India, including Bengaluru Airport, to expand its presence. “We plan to establish more airport-based flex spaces and are already in discussions for Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, and the upcoming new airport in Vizag. After these, we aim to expand into other key airport hubs across India,” says Sundari Patibandla, CEO & Co-Founder, iSprout.
