Former businessline journalist P Devarajan passes away

P Devarajan, former Senior Associate Editor of the Hindu businessline, passed away on Friday morning. He was 79.

Starting his career in the Times of India in the early 1970s, Deva worked in the Business Standard, the Financial Express, The Hindu and The Hindu businessline. He was the first Chief of Bureau of businessline in Mumbai.

“Every interaction with him was a masterclass in journalism. I fondly remember how a bunch of us would often accompany him to Press Club in Mumbai. Deva would regale us with stories of his interactions with Dhirubhai Ambani and various RBI governors. His storytelling skills were legendary and he also dabbled in poetry,” Adith Charlie, former reporter at businessline wrote in a post in LinkedIn.

“His enthusiasm for life, work ethics and frolic will remain etched in the memory of all those who had the good fortune to have known him,” said N K Kurup, former Consulting Editor at businessline.

Devarajan leaves behind his wife, two daughters, a son and grandchildren.
