Foundation stone laid for four new units in Telangana’s electronics manufacturing cluster

Union Minister for Railways, Electronics, IT and Information & Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, on Saturday laid the foundation stone for four manufacturing units at the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster at Divitipally in Mahabubnagar district of Telangana. 

The Electronics Manufacturing Cluster was set up by the state government under the EMC-2.0 Scheme to promote electronics manufacture in the State.

While Amara Raja laid the foundation stone for a Giga Factory-1, Lohum held a ground-breaking ceremony for its critical minerals refining and battery recycling unit, Scell Energy held a ground-breaking ceremony for its cell casing manufacturing unit, and Altmin laid the foundation stone for its first LFP-CAM Giga Factory.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashwini Vaishnaw said: “Battery technology is as essential for India’s economy as steel and chemical, and it is heartening to see Amara Raja taking a lead in this space.’‘

The Centre was committed to the all-round growth of the sector and Divitipally region and would contribute further through modernisation of railway stations and by establishing allied infrastructure. The Centre has committed over ₹5,000 crore for the State’s railway development,’‘ he added. 

D Sridhar Babu, State Minister for Industries, said the state government was committed to extending support to manufacturing initiatives such as these.

Jayadev Galla, Chairman & Managing Director, ARE&M, said his company was looking to be amongst the first companies in India to present an indigenously manufactured Lithium-Ion cell to the nation, according to a release.
