Gopal Lal, former Director of the National Research Centre on Seed Spices (ICAR-NRCCS), has assumed charge as Joint Director of the National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM).
With over 28 years of experience in the areas of crop improvement, management information systems, micro irrigation systems, seed production and extension systems, Lal was a member (Agriculture) at Cauvery Water Management Authority, Central Water Commission, New Delhi, before assuming as the Joint Director at the Hyderabad-based NAARM.
He started his career as an Assistant Professor at Rajasthan Agriculture University, Bikaner.

“Lal has 200 research papers, 90 book chapters, and 52 technical reports and booklets to his credit besides authoring 25 books. He was instrumental in developing and releasing 13 varieties of crop improvement methods,” a NAARM statement said.
Ch Srinivasa Rao, who headed the NAARM as its Director till recently, was recently appointed as the ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in New Delhi.
