India should fulfil the needs of the domestic market even as it tries to tap the growth opportunity globally.
Addressing a gathering of young students at the seventh Foundation Day celebration of DY Patil International University at Pune, Arun Firodia, Chairman of Kinetic Group, said no doubt that the world should be the Indian corporates’ marketplace, they should make products to meet the needs of domestic markets and ensure that it is fully satisfied.
As a country, India gives opportunities which may not be available anywhere in the world, he said.
Sharing his experience at IIT, Firodia said “I came to know about India in IIT Bombay, where I interacted with people from all over India.”
He assured that India has a great future and shared his experience of manufacturing India’s first moped, Kinetic Luna, way back in the early seventies.
He launched a book, ‘100 Great IITians: Dedicated to the service of the nation’ edited by Cdr VK Jaitly. The book celebrates the remarkable achievements of 100 Great IITians who refused to be lured by the West and contributed significantly to India’s growth. With a commitment to the service of the nation, these IITians have left an indelible mark on India’s progress.
Prof Prabhat Ranjan, an alumnus of IIT and founder Vice Chancellor of DYPIU, said the university has been recognised as a trendsetter in the higher education circle and further emphasis will be given on digital in future.
The university will start B.Sc. Economics and B.A. Linguistics and a Centre for Generative AI for the next academic year, besides opening up a 33-floor hostel, he said.
