The best performers of the session on the were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:), which rose 9.32% or 149.15 points to trade at 1,750.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:) added 7.20% or 42.70 points to end at 636.10 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:) was up 2.76% or 78.60 points to 2,931.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UPL Ltd (NS:), which fell 0.79% or 5.65 points to trade at 709.00 at the close. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:) declined 0.46% or 3.45 points to end at 745.00 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:) was down 0.37% or 10.40 points to 2,774.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.72% to 1,068.75, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.21% to settle at 7,570.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.93% to close at 1,246.80.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.63% to 743.45 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which lost 0.56% to settle at 2,235.25 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.53% to 2,769.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1353 to 585 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2074 rose and 1321 declined, while 114 ended unchanged.
Shares in UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.21% or 163.70 to 7,570.00.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.16% or 3.25 to $1,987.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.15% or 0.84 to hit $74.04 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.64 to trade at $78.78 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 82.30, while EUR/INR rose 0.26% to 89.33.
