Jefferson Caesarean adage recast for the age of Musk

Thomas Jefferson wrote: “With money we will get men, said Caesar, and with men we will get money.” Given how much Elon Musk stands to gain from his destaffing of the US agencies of regulation and oversight (FT View, February 11), perhaps in the Musk playbook this should be rewritten: “With money we will get rid of men . . . without men we will get money.”
