Kalyan Jewellers, GRT bag contract to supply gold coins to Sabarimala Temple

The Travancore Devaswom Board has awarded Kalyan Jewellers and GRT Jewellers, Tamil Nadu the contract to supply gold coins bearing the image of Lord Ayyappa for distribution at Sabarimala Temple.

These 22-carat gold lockets, available in weights of 1, 2, 4 and 8 grams, will be sold to devotees through Devaswom stalls. The initiative aims to offer high-quality, hallmarked souvenirs to pilgrims, enhancing their spiritual experience.

The process was initiated in December 2024, when the Board issued tenders for the supply of these gold lockets. Kalyan Jewellers emerged as the successful bidder, meeting all specified criteria and offering competitive rates. The lockets are scheduled to be available for booking in the coming months when the temple is open, with initial stocks expected to be limited.

TS Kalyanaraman, Managing Director of Kalyan Jewellers, said “It is a divine blessing from Lord Ayyappa to be chosen for this sacred responsibility. We are honoured to supply these gold coins, ensuring that devotees receive authentic and high-quality offerings as part of their spiritual journey at Sabarimala.”

The initiative marks a significant step in providing devotees with authentic and sanctified memorabilia, reflecting the Board’s commitment to enriching the pilgrimage experience at Sabarimala, a statement said. .
