Letter: Musk’s bullet points

Has President Doge (aka Elon Musk) considered the bureaucratic and financial burden of his five-bullet-points-a-week email demand (Business Life, March 3)?

Suppose it takes 10 minutes a week to write the email. Times 52 weeks: 8.6 hours a year. Times approximately 3mn employees: 26mn hours, or 150,000 weeks, or 3,000 years of extra work to prove the work is effective. The average annual federal salary is $106,000, so that comes at a cost of $318mn. Add the cost of the time spent reading the email. Say half a billion dollars in all. I have some efficiency savings to suggest.
