LTIMindtree has appointed its chief operating officer (COO) Nachiket Deshpande as the President of Global AI Services, Strategic Deals and Partnerships in a move to simplify the organisation to prepare for growth.

This news comes after Venu Lambu was announced as the CEO Designate in January, following Debashis Chatterjee stepping down from the role. Both the CEO designate, and Deshpande are ex-employees of Cognizant.

In a company-wide letter, Lambu wrote, “Our industry is undergoing a profound transformation, necessitating swift and strategic decisions to capitalise on rapidly evolving market dynamics. The evolution of a new AI stack over the last 18 to 24 months is bringing software and services paradigms closer together, creating new frontiers of opportunities. We must adopt a new playbook to win in this new AI economy. This strategic appointment demonstrates our commitment to being a proactive, agile organisation capitalising on fast-emerging trends and reinforcing our position as an industry leader. This charter also includes governance of AI infusion in existing services.”

In this newly created role, Deshpande, who will be based in New Jersey, will be pivotal in driving the company’s strategic initiatives across AI Services, where he will lead a new business group focused on the “New AI economy” with a services portfolio across AI advisory, AI engineering, AI solutions, and outcome-based platform operations reimagined with AI. This will be delivered by AI studio and agentic AI marketplace.

He will also spearhead LTIMindtree’s pursuit of multi-year client engagements, align its Global Technology Office (GTO) research agenda, identify and evaluate emerging technologies, and forge strategic partnerships with academic institutions to fuel its innovation pipeline for long-term growth.

Deshpande will also lead the company’s strategic M&A initiatives, expand its customer base, and acquire critical technologies. He will continue to remain a board member and the Whole-Time Director.
