MWC 2025 is back, and it’s once again the place to be for tech enthusiasts and industry giants alike. This year’s event didn’t disappoint, unveiling cutting-edge devices and bold new concepts that could change the way we interact with technology.
Smartphones
This year’s focus with smartphones seem to be on improving photography prowess, as well as pushing the boundaries of design. For starters, Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, with a pro-grade camera that is designed to deliver photos inspired by Leica M-series cameras. It features a quad-camera setup that includes a 200 MP Leica periscope lens, a 50 MP Leica primary lens, a 50 MP Leica telephoto lens with OIS and a 50 MP Leica ultra-wide camera.
The Tecno CAMON 40 Premier 5G also stood out with its triple 50MP camera setup, including ultra-wide and periscope telephoto lenses and a 50MP front-facing camera. The brand also teased the ultra-slim concept smartphone — the Tecno Spark Slim — which is only 5.75 mm thick. Despite its slender frame, it boasts a 5,200 mAh battery and a massive 6.78-inch 120Hz AMOLED display.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge with a 6.7” display
Samsung showcased the snazzy Galaxy S25 Edge with a 6.7-inch full HD+ super AMOLED display with up to 2,600 nits peak brightness. The smartphone will house a 3,900 mAh battery with 25 W charging and is likely to hit the markets sometime next month.
London-based Nothing is bringing its signature flair to the budget segment with its new releases, the Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro. Both smartphones sport Nothing’s iconic transparent design and refined Glyph interface. They feature a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, they are powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor. Camera-wise, both boast a 50MP primary sensor, with the Pro adding a periscope telephoto with OIS for extra versatility.
Leica lens compatible Realme smartphones
HMD launched a family and teen-focused phone — the HMD Fusion X1. The smartphone works on a subscription basis, with a customisable app and internet access, allowing parents to choose no social media and internet browsing, or limiting them. It also includes continuous location tracking at 20 second intervals with safe zones, emergency SOS calling, low battery alerts and remote device access for parents.
HMD FusonX1, a teen-focused smartphone
Realme used the opportunity to launch the Realme 14 Pro series globally. A smartphone we reviewed recently, the Realme 14 Pro 5G boasts a 6.78-inch OLED display with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Energy chipset under the hood.
Laptops
Lenovo teased a solar-powered laptop concept with solar panels integrated onto its lid. These high-efficiency panels can convert 20 minutes of sunlight into nearly one hour of video playback, making it easier to live life without a charger. While this is not hitting the shelves anytime soon, as it’s a concept, what you might be able to get your hands on are the new Lenovo ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1 and ThinkBook 16p Gen 6, both now equipped for enhanced AI-driven performance.

TECNO also unveiled the MEGABOOK S14 laptop, which weighs in at an impressive 899 grams despite a 14-inch OLED display. Catering to creators and gamers alike, the laptop is powered by the Snapdragon X Elite processor.
Audio
Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon X Elite chipset, enhancing audio experiences by enabling Wi-Fi-enabled earbuds such as the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro to stream lossless audio. This advancement surpasses traditional Bluetooth limitations, offering uninterrupted playback across greater distances. The Buds 5 Pro, priced ₹17,000 (approx), also feature AI-driven noise cancellation that adapts in real time to environmental changes.

Futuristic concepts
Samsung XR aka Project Moohan was also showcased at MWC 2025. The augmented reality glasses will run on the Android XR platform with support for Google Maps, YouTube and Google’s Gemini AI app.
Tecno Spark Slim, an ultra-slim concept smartphone
TECNO introduced the AI Glasses Series, including the AI Glasses Pro. These smart glasses boast a 50 MP high-definition camera, real-time translation supporting over 100 languages, voice control and AI-powered object recognition, blending style with functionality.

Realme also hinted at a smartphone that plays nice with DSLR lenses! This prototype features an 1-inch customised Sony sensor paired with a proprietary lens mount system, enabling users to attach DSLR lenses directly to a smartphone. With two pro-level lenses — 73 mm portrait and 234 mm telephoto — it aims to deliver unparalleled optical clarity on mobile devices.
Final word
While last year’s spotlight was on artificial intelligence, this year brands have shifted their focus on improving the personal tech experience — futuristic form factor, augmented reality, safe smartphone experiences, solar-powered devices and more! Such multifaceted improvements augur an overall well-integrated smart experience for consumers in the months and year ahead.
