Mishap at SLBC tunnel, workers feared trapped

About 40 workers are feared to have been trapped in Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Telangana in a mishap this morning.

According to police, a small portion of the roof of the tunnel collapsed near 14 km milestone while about 40 workers were working inside the tunnel this morning.

The rescue operations are in full swing and three workers were rescued so far.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep shock over a mishap at the SLBC tunnel. 

He ordered district Collector, SP , Fire Services department and Irrigation officials to rush to the spot and take up relief measures immediately. 

On CM Revanth Reddy’s instructions, Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Advisor Adityanath Das and irrigation officials left for the accident site in a special helicopter, according to CMO.
