Share prices of UltraTech Cement Ltd., Bharti Airtel Ltd., Infosys Ltd., NTPC Ltd., and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. emerged as the top gainers on Monday.
Among the laggards were shares of Reliance Industries Ltd., Bajaj Finserv Ltd., HDFC Bank Ltd., Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd., and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.
The BSE Sensex ended marginally lower amid volatile trading. The BSE Sensex closed at 73,085.94, down 112.16 points or 0.15 per cent, while the NSE Nifty 50 index finished at 22,119.30, dipping 5.40 points or 0.02 per cent.
Top Gainers
UltraTech Cement led the advances, surging 2.21 per cent to ₹10,337.55, continuing its strong momentum from last week. Bharti Airtel shares showed significant strength, rising 1.76 per cent to ₹1,597.25.
Infosys gained 1.19 per cent to close at ₹1,708.10, while NTPC added 1.14 per cent to finish at ₹314.50. Mahindra & Mahindra completed the top five with a 1.06 per cent gain, ending at ₹2,611.50.
Top Losers
Reliance Industries was the biggest loser, dropping 2.38 per cent to ₹1,171.10 amid global growth concerns. Bajaj Finserv declined 1.86 per cent to ₹1,838.20.
HDFC Bank fell 1.72 per cent to ₹1,701.25, while Adani Ports slipped 1.63 per cent to ₹1,052.75. Maruti Suzuki closed 1.48 per cent lower at ₹11,768.40.
The day’s trading was characterized by high volatility with markets recovering from intraday lows. The Nifty tested the crucial psychological support of 22,000 before staging a recovery in the latter half of the trading session amid ongoing global trade concerns and continued foreign investor outflows.
