Sanmar Group’s engineering units to expand manufacturing at OneHub Chennai

The Chennai-headquartered Sanmar Group is planning to undertake expansion of a few group companies, which come under the engineering business, at the Ascendas OneHub industrial park in Chennai.

The Sanmar Group, a $1.5-billion conglomerate with expertise in chemicals, shipping, engineering and metals, and a presence in the US, Mexico and Egypt, has now finalised a deal to establish manufacturing operations at the OneHub Industrial Park.

OneHub Chennai, a 1,250-acre integrated industrial park, is a joint venture between CapitaLand Development, Mizuho Bank and JGC Corporation. Situated along the old Mahabalipuram Road in Chennai, the park offers established infrastructure.

Land secured

“Sanmar Group has secured land within OneHub Chennai Industrial Park, with BS & B Safety Systems acquiring about 4.5 acres and Flowserve Sanmar taking 7.5 acres for expansion,” a CapitaLand spokesperson confirmed.

BS & B Safety Systems, founded in 1981 as a joint venture with BS&B Safety Systems Inc, US, specialises in manufacturing rupture disks, rupture disk assemblies and burst alert sensors.

Flowserve Sanmar, a joint venture with Flowserve Corporation, US, produces engineered mechanical sealing devices, including pusher seals, dry running seals, split seals, metal bellows seals and non-contacting seals. Both companies currently operate from their existing units in Karapakkam, Chennai.

The Sanmar Group declined to comment on the development.
