Strike at Samsung Chennai to continue

The strike at Samsung Chennai will continue after the talks between Samsung India Thozilalargal Sangam and the company management in front of Tamil Nadu labour department officials remained inconclusive. Over 1,000 workers of the Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) backed Sangam are on strike inside the factory premises for a week in protest against the suspension of three of its workers.

The CITU representatives in the talks wanted the company to revoke suspension of three of its workers. However, the company officials declined to do so. The company had plans to issue suspension to another 15 Sangam workers. This was put on hold after today’s discussions, they said.

The week-long strike will continue inside the factory premises, they said.

The next round of talks will be held on Friday.
