The India division of the Technicolor Group, a French Visual effects and animation graphics company, has shut down its India operations.

According to a report by The Hindu, Technicolor India’s Bengaluru and Mumbai operations were shut as part of the group’s global closure.

Biren Ghose, Managing Director, Technicolor India, said in a town hall, “Technicolour India is financially and operationally not moving forward. We reached a state where we can’t function as an organisation anymore. The India management got to know about it only when we received an email, out of the blue, from Caroline Parot, CEO of Technicolor Group,’‘ Mr. Ghose informed the employees.

Technicolor worked with several notable Hollywood studios like DreamWorks Pictures, Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. Some movies include Puss in Boots, Madagascar 3, and the Kung Fu Panda series

The company employed 3,200 people in India, with close to 3,000 in Bengaluru alone. Globally, it employs over 10,000 across France, US, Canada and India, including animators, lighting artists, special effects experts, graphic artists, atmosphere and volume metric experts and image rendering specialists.
