Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has said that the state government will deal with illegal mining and supply sand and other minerals with an iron hand. He said stringent action against illegal mining is the only solution to generate more revenue.

At a review meeting held here on Saturday, the Mining Department officials briefed the Chief Minister about the measures being taken to curb illegal sand transport and generate more revenues.

He directed the Telangana Mining Development Corporation (TDMDC) to supply sand for all construction works undertaken by various government departments, including the Irrigation, Roads and Buildings, and Panchayat Raj departments.

He also wanted the corporation to meet the requirements of various construction companies. “You should be able to supply sand at reasonable prices so that consumers do not need to rely on illegal suppliers,” he said.

“Considering the significant sand consumption in Hyderabad and its vicinity, establish sand stock points on three sides of the city. This will provide consumers with a convenient way to purchase sand for minor requirements,” he said.
