In a bid to showcase opportunities for 3D-printed homes in the future, Tvasta Manufacturing Solutions, a deep-tech start-up, has constructed a 3D-printed villa for Godrej Properties.
The 3D-printed G+1 villa was completed in four months, from June to October 2024 at Godrej Eden Estate, Pune. Spanning 2,200 sq. ft., it was constructed entirely on-site using a concrete 3D printer.
Founded in 2016 by IIT Madras alumni, Chennai-based Tvasta leverages automation and robotics for faster, economical and sustainable construction methods. Tvasta says it will continue to refine the processes, materials and machines in collaboration with government, academia and industry, and is currently constructing multi-storey buildings, including villas, office buildings, and luxury guesthouses for customers.
The start-up repurposes waste from construction and other industries. The 3D-printed walls feature a design that provides better insulation, resulting in lower energy consumption and reduced utility bills, the company said.
“Tvasta remains committed to advancing this technology further, with plans to scale operations and develop more such collaborative partnerships in the construction space,” Parivarthan Reddy, Co-Founder, Tvasta Manufacturing Solutions, said.
In recent years, Tvasta has also expanded into the international market, selling construction 3D printers in the US and Middle East.
