Ride-hailing platform Uber is expanding its same-day delivery service as it rolls out a new feature called Courier XL.
Courier is the same day delivery service as Uber competes with Porter with its foray into the four-wheeler and three-wheeler logistics segment.
“Courier is a same-day delivery service that allows customers to send packages across the city with ease. With Courier XL, customers can send large packages within the city. We’re currently testing and refining this offering, aiming to provide a more convenient and cost-effective delivery option,” said Uber Spokesperson
Recently, Uber has rolled out software-as-a-service (SaaS)-based zero commission model for auto drivers across India in response to increased competition from local rivals Rapido and Namma Yatri. The ride-hailing giant will instead charge drivers a daily fee to use the platform and connect to riders.
The ride-hailing giant piloted a subscription-based plan for auto rickshaw drivers on its platform last April. This marks a shift from the traditional commission-based revenue model adopted by these companies, wherein the platform kept a share of the fare for every ride as commission.
