Announcements related to technology, which is an important economic link between the US and India, are expected today.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is meeting Donald Trump at the White House, for the first time since the US president’s inauguration.
The bulletins will concern semiconductors, critical minerals, supply chain resilience and diversification, said a senior White House official.
The US also sees China’s response to Trump’s tariffs as an opportunity for India to take on a bigger role in manufacturing and global supply chains.
“I think this heightens the opportunity set for the Indians to be a part of strengthening supply chains, ensuring that critical supply chains and technologies cannot be weaponised against free societies,” the official said.
