Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) selected Nokia for a three-year contract to expand Vi’s IP backhaul network. Nokia will be deploying IP/MPLS solutions across multiple telecom circles in India to sustain data-hungry services like AI and immersive gaming, business video conferencing, and connectivity demands.

Under the partnership, Nokia will provide the 7750 SR and 7250 IXR series IP MPLS routing system solutions to improve VI’s transport network. The deployment will help improve VI’s core, aggregation and access layers, to handle increasing data traffic and deliver connectivity for both mobility and enterprise services.

Vi said it plans to to densify its network with a significant deployment of IP routers and replace its legacy networks. To this end, the partnership will enable lower operational costs, faster deployment and scalability for future technologies.
